Deeplish Community Centre joined forces with Rochdale MBC Recycling team, local residents and local community Cllrs to raise awareness in recycling changes around the Borough of Rochdale and particularly within Milkstone and Deeplish ward.

Sunshine Preschool - Early Years Provision and Education

At Sunshine Preschool we provide a fun and stimulating environment which positively influence your child’s learning and development. Our Preschool has fully qualified and enthusiastic staff that wholeheartedly enjoys their careers and provide a caring approach.

We operate from Deeplish Children’s centre. We have a team of highly dedicated Pre-school staff. Our manager, leader, and staff member are qualified to level 6, Level 5 and level 3 qualifications in early years.

Preschool opens Monday – Friday, 9am to 12pm, term time only. The preschool provides funded early education for two, three and four years old children. It supports a high number of children who speak English as an additional language and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Deeplish Play scheme Project – Breaking Barriers and Promoting integration

The play scheme project provides a range of stimulating, learning and fun based activities for children under the age of 12 during summer and Easter Holidays. The project aims to work in partnership with a number of key individuals and organizations. This includes volunteers and staff of community Centre as well as helpers and young people. We are very proud to promote play scheme offering diverse range of activities for children and young people.

Milkstone & Deeplish area Forums

We host, promote and Support Milkstone & Deeplish area Forum meetings which are held every Quarter to listen to community Views on issues and services affecting local communities in local neighbourhoods. These forums are well attended by local residents and supported by Local Authority. GM Police, Local Councillors, Local Residents and other public bodies are well represented on these Forums.

Mother Tongue & Cultural Study School

The purpose of this group is to provide all young people from the age of 5 to 12 with high-quality, professional Language teaching to attain knowledge and understanding of languages at an early age.

The aim of the activity is also to raise awareness among children and parents with a view to encouraging their own participation in local consultation forums. Core activities include: - • Teaching children with basic skills in Urdu/ Arabic reading and writing • Teaching children how to read, learn and understand the Mother tongue languages • Engage children and young people in structured and group learning sessions, enabling them to learn social, moral, cultural and much more! 

ESOL / Let’s talk English

Purpose of this project is to enhance people’s language skills and confidence in communication into mainstream services and bodies. There are many Lets English lessons and classes available throughout the year to educate and support local residents to learn about language, literacy and develop skills to gain confidence and ready for employment in future. This is another popular project at the centre and attended my many local residents of the borough of Rochdale.

Public Open Days and Information sessions

Deeplish Community Centre is actively engaged with Local communities in supporting, consulting and raising awareness about issues affecting local community. We raise awareness about health and well-being, community safety. This gives local community and community centre a chance to find out what services we need to offer and what are issues affecting local communities.

Public Open Days and Information sessions

We are proud to offer children’s activities and voice to children through structured activities, encouragement and programmes of activities. This includes Open days and team games with dedicated volunteers and outdoor / indoor activities. Please contact us if you would like your child to participate in activities and events at the centre. Local Leaders are also supporting us in delivering this change. We promote children’s safe, secure and friendly environment at all times.

DAWN GROUP – Deeplish area Woman’s’ Network

This is a local ladies group, run by local ladies and volunteers every Wednesday 1.00pm – 3.00pm to promoter exercise, sewing, and healthy cooking.

Women’s wellbeing Project

This group also provides various women’s engagement and vibrant activities for ladies to relax, socialise and spend time together. We are at present looking for further funds to promote and launch this project. This group works closely with various agencies as GM Police, Local GP’s and other strategic bodies. This groups meets every Monday from 11.00am – 1.00pm.

Tanzeem Co-operative project

Rochdale is the home of co-operatives and Deeplish is absolutely delighted to welcome another co-operative formed recently by a group of Asian women working at home. They secured some lottery funding from Awards from All to deliver specific training for their members.

Cartwheel Arts Story Project

Cartwheel Arts have been delighted to work with Deeplish Community Centre again this year. We have been a regular visitor, running the monthly creative writing group 'Deeplish Story Group' and a script-writing project 'Village Girl' which was so successful we got further funding to disseminate through a roadshow across Rochdale, Bury, Oldham and Manchester. We showcased Village Girl at the centre on 1st July. We love working at Deeplish Community Centre and hope to be back in the Autumn.
